Merry Christmas - It's Party Time

Before I discuss the party info there is something I need to clear up!
Today, Tuesday is our regular golf day isn't it?    It wasn't raining and the sun was shining!
That being true, where was everybody ?  You guys are wimps, so it was a little chilly!

Two real men showed up today and played 18 holes  It wasn't cold, it was more or less a convenient way to keep our beer cool!  In addition to that good news was also the fact that there was only one other group, a walking threesome, on the course and we had NO DELAYS, the fairways and greens were fast and true!  (Maybe that's because they were frozen?)

What ticks me off though is the one stinking day in the last month that I play great and finished +8, is the same day you prima donnas decide you don't like the weather and wimp out!  That's not fair!!!!

I don't care, I won and you guys owe me a dollar! :-)

Now that I have a way to pay for it, below is the information on the Christmas Party

I am going to need your food commitments as soon as possible, so discuss with the boss and when asked.........respond in a quick and concise manner, with a smile on your face..........or else I'll make you sit by Larry!  By the way, the prices are identical to what they were a year ago and are inclusive.

***** GENERAL INFORMATION *****

Hadn't been doping many blogs because of the weird weather situation we had this summer, as in a little warm!  But now with the Fall upon us, it looks like we might be able to start up a regular exchange of information.  We have had 26 golfers out the last 2 times.  Tuesday saw us with 14 and on Thursday we had 12.

We have also welcomed two new golfers to our ranks, Hank Franz and Gary Lamb.  We welcome you guys and your $4.00.
*****INDIVIDUAL HONORS*****

The point winner for today was a three way tie between:  HERGY, BRENT and DON, all with a respectable +6.   At +5 were the duo of Gary Lamb and Larry, Remember boys, this is the big leagues....no pretenders!

Medalist honors for the day belong to DON with a very nice 80 for the day.  Shooting a 37 on the back (Azalea) sure didn't hurt his chances for this prestigious honor! Huh?  Anyway, close behind was the "Wanna-be" at 84 and Mrs. Hergenrader's favorite son , Bob with an 85.

*****HONOR ROLL*****

-37-     Don
-38-
-39-
-40-
-41-     Bob, Louie
-42-     Brent(2), Hergy, Ernie
-43-     Gary, Tommy, Larry, Hergy, Don
-44-
-45-     Louie, Tommy, Ernie
*****TEAM COMPETITION*****

We had a three way tie and no money was split!

The team of Louie, Tommy, Larry and Duke won the front  (Dogwood) with a +10 1/2

The team of Gary, Bob, Brent and Walt won the back (Azalea) with a + 8 1/2

The team of Ernie, Hergy, Hank and Don won the 18 with an overall +16.

Therefore, the best team is the last because the 18 is what counts and besides, it's the one I'm on!

***** GENERAL INFORMATION *****

It looks like Fall has made it to the South!  Hooray!  What a great time to play golf!

Nine regulars and Louie (9 holes)were out today.

*****INDIVIDUAL HONORS*****

The point winner for Tuesday was the "DONALD - THE PAINT BOY"  with an 18 hole total of +10.  I think we need to check Don because I think he is sniffing his paint.  Today was his third consecutive round under 80.  That's just sick!  Maybe we should start smoking whatever is in his pipe!   Next closest golfer was Ol' Ernie at +4.

The medalist honors went to DON as well with an 18 hole total of 76  The last three rounds have been 79, 77, 76  Second place in this useless contest went to Tommy at 86.  Everyone else (the normal people)was in the 90's.
*****HONOR ROLL*****
-36-
-37-     Don
-38-
-39-     Don
-40-
-41-     David

Second place went to Larry, Jack, Tommy with a 1/2.
Bringing up the rear was the team of Ernie, Walt and David at - 2 1/2

On the back, ERNIE, WALT and DAVID kicked it in gear to shoot a + 10 1/2.  Hergy, Don and Duke were second at +3 and falling to the bottom was the team of Larry, Jack and Tommy at +1/2.

For the 18 them, the team of HERGY, DON and DUKE swept the honors at +9 to Ernie, Walt and David's +8.  The other group - no names -  finished at +1!

Note it! Live it, Breathe it, Write it down! Subject it to memory! Be the Ball!

***** GENERAL INFORMATION *****

I have it on good authority that Fall will be coming to Aiken within a short period of time - one or two weeks.  Although, we had a small dose of what to expect today!  It started out a little questionable, but by the end of the round, it was perfect!

Now, we just need to keep on repeating, repeating, repeating.....you get the idea!

Nine regulars were out today.  Although, we had a nine holer, we still had enough for a competitive match!

*****INDIVIDUAL HONORS*****

The point winner for Tuesday was the "WANNABE"  Brent posted a +10 to blow away the competition. Way back in second place with a +5 was the "Naked Gun"!

The medalist honors went to BRENT as well with an 18 hole total of 78.  That's pretty good golf!

No one could even get in the same zip code as that for second place, as Louie was still 9 strokes away at 87!

*****HONOR ROLL*****

-37-   Brent
-38-
-39-
-40-
-41-    Brent
-42-    Ron, Louie
-43-    Don, Louie, David

-44-    Larry
-45-    Ron

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****

The team of LARRY, DON, RON and LOUIE won the front with a +2 1/2. Second place went to David, Jack, Brent and Hergy with a +1 1/2.

On the back, it was the reverse with DAVID, JACK, BRENT and HERGY posting a +6 1/2 over Larry, Don, Ron and Louie with a + 5 1/2.

For the 18 them, the team(s) tied at +8.  No money changed hands and no blood was spilled!

TUESDAY GOLF RESULTS

*****TEE TIMES*****

Our "Standing" Summer tee times will continue until further notice:
10:00 - 10:08 - 10:16 am Tuesday - Thursday

SATURDAY - September 18:       9:36 - 9:44 am

Note it! Live it, Breathe it, Write it down! Subject it to memory! Be the Ball!

***** GENERAL INFORMATION *****

Well, the weather took a little step back today.  The temps climbed in the 90's and so did our scores.  A number of us are still not "primed" to do the whole 18 holes.  I'm confident as the summer wans and the fall advances our ability to play high quality (as defined by our standards - below bogey) will return.  Until then, it will be Richard Simmons time - you know......"Sweatin' with the Oldies".

Anyway, we had 11 regulars and a "newbie" out today. Good to see some familiar faces again (Duke and Ernie)!  Good to see Duke playing eighteen, and playing well!

*****INDIVIDUAL HONORS*****

This to easy, I don't even have to change the winning information since the same scumbag won again.  The point winner for Tuesday was the HILTON HEAD HACKER - TOMMY. Tommy posted a nice +7 to win the title.  Second place was a tie at +4 with Don and David.!

A word to the wise o' continuing winner.  If you don't cool it with the low scores, you maybe be going to Lake Lure alone!

The medalist honors went to DAVID with an 83, following close behind were Tommy and Don. Not bad considering the competition!

*****HONOR ROLL*****
-38-
-39-    David
-40-    Don
-41-    Tommy
-42-    Ron
-43-    Larry, Louie, Brent, Tommy
-44-    Don, David
-45-

The "What Am I Doing Here" Award for the day goes to Larry with a 43 on the front and  a 51 on the back, Ouch!

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****

The team of ERNIE, DAVID, TOMMY and DUKE won the front (Dogwood) with a +5 1/2.  Second place went to Larry, Louie, Hergy and Hank (Newbie - didn't count) with a +3 and last on the front was the foursome of Brent, Walter, Ron and Don with a +2.

On the back (Laurel), it was the last place team of  BRENT,WALTER, RON and DON posting a +3 over Ernie, David, Tommy and Duke at + 1/2.  Last and least, limping in with a -8 was Larry, Louie, Hergy and Hank  (Ooh, that's an ugly number!)

For the 18 them, the team of ERNIE, DAVID, TOMMY and DUKE eked out a close one of +6 to the Brent, Walter, Ron and Don team of  +5.  Last place,(and lovin' it!) went to those who shall remain nameless at -5 for the day!

**** NEWS *****

FOOTBALL PICKS WILL BE DUE ON THURSDAY!

E-mail or hand them in at golf on Thursday!

BIGGEST TURNOUT OF THE YEAR

*****TEE TIMES*****

Our "Standing" Summer tee times will continue until further notice:

10:00 - 10:08 - 10:16 am Tuesday - Thursday

SATURDAY - September 11  9:44 - 9:52 am

Note it! Live it, Breathe it, Write it down! Subject it to memory! Be the Ball!

***** GENERAL INFORMATION *****

The weather is finally starting to cooperate with our golf program.  The"mild" temperature as opposed to "scalding" brought out 12 of Aiken's finest - actually 11 1/2 as Duke (Welcome back!) only traversed the front nine(48) - not a bad score there ol' bionic boy!

Good to see some familiar faces again!

*****INDIVIDUAL HONORS*****

The point winner for Thursday was the HILTON HEAD HACKER - TOMMY.  Tommy posted a nice +9 to win the title, but he was chased to the finish line by his teammates Hergy and George and Jack, all posting +8's  In fact, Tommy won it on the last hole with a birdie!

The medalist honors were tied with TOMMY and LOUIE both shooting 82's.  Second place went to Hergy with an 83.  Pretty good golf boys!

*****HONOR ROLL*****

-38-
-39-
-40-   Brent
-41-   Tommy(2), Hergy, Louie(2)
-42-   George, Hergy
-43-   George, Walt, David, Jack, Don
-44-   David, Don
-45-

That's a lot of scores in the Honor ring....been a long time since we've had that many rounds under bogey!

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****

Who would have ever thought that you could score 18 points and still lose by double digits?  In almost an unworldly display the team of HERGY, GEORGE, TOMMY and WALTER smashed the all time record of 23 points by scoring 30 points for 18.

On the front they scored a +16 1/2 to outdistance second place team of David, Jack, Brent and Louie  (+8 1/2) and the third place (last) team of Ernie, Larry and Don (+3).

On the back, it was +13 1/2 for the winners, to a + 9 1/2 for the second group and +5 for the third!

Obviously, the team of HERGY, GEORGE, TOMMY and WALTER also claimed the overall 18 title with a convincing +30. All things are right with the world!

**** NEWS *****
FOOTBALL PICKS WILL BE DUE ON SATURDAY NOT THURSDAY !  I mention this because I will be out of town (Charleston) until Thursday afternoon.  You can still e-mail your selections, or give them to Don at golf on Thursday or deliver them on Saturday!

It looks as if the weekly selections will be posted on Tuesday afternoons.  The AP Poll doesn't come out till then.  I am assuming that having the Poll helps?  If not, I can send them out by Sunday's or so since I usually have two or three weeks done in advance.  Let me know if you do/don't want the AP rankings?

MOVIN' ALONG TOWARDS FALL

*****TEE TIMES*****

Our "Standing" Summer tee times will continue until further notice:
10:00 - 10:08 - 10:16 am Tuesday - Thursday

SATURDAY - TBA

Note it! Live it, Breathe it, Write it down! Subject it to memory! Be the Ball!

***** GENERAL INFORMATION *****

We had a rather good turnout this Am.  8 golfers toured the Azalea/Dogwood  terrain and within a week or so we hope to have all our travellers back in the saddle for the fall season.

***** INDIVIDUAL HONORS *****

The point winner for Tuesday was "THE WANNABE".  I tried to use Orange as the highlight color, but beibg a "Nebraska-only" system it only allows for red, blue and black!  A distant second place finish Larry and Hergy at +4's finished out the better scoring efforts.

The medalist honors also went to BRENT with an 82.  Second place in todays outing is a tie with Hergy and David sharing the honors with matching 87's.  Nice round Brent, just don't make a habit of it!

*****HONOR ROLL*****
-36-
-37-
-38-
-39-
-40-    Brent
-41-
-42-   Brent, Hergy
-43-   David
-44-   Louie, David
-45-  Louie, Hergy, Larry

Not exactley world class golf!

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****

The foursome of DON, WALT, LARRY and DAVID eked out a close victory on the front a +2 to a +1.

However, the team of HERGY, LOUIE, JACK and BRENT woke up and easily won the back nine with a very definitive +9, to a miserable -2 for the pretenders.

Obviously, the team of HERGY, LOUIE, JACK and BRENT also clamed the overall 18 title with a convincing +10 to "0".  All things are right with the world!
