TOURNAMENT TIME

Well, today was the tune-up for the big tournament and we had a nice turnout. The weather was great, the course is in good shape and we continue to play so-so golf. Enough of the intro, lets get right to the big stuff!

Individual Honors

Ron (Mr. Naked Gun) W. finally got his game together and won the individual point title. Unfortunately, the man in charge of getting the details of the victory (me) was not available when the money was "divvied" up, so I wasn't present when the size of the victory was announced! A reconstruction of the scores would lead me to calculate that Ron won with a +5 (Shot an 86 w/ a 19 Hcp). Tommyand Brent were a close second with a +4's. (83's for the day). Other notable nines: With the exception of Brent and Tommy - no one.

I called Ron to verify that he had won, but he was not home. My thanks to Mrs Naked Gun for relaying to me that Ron, when he got home, had done the Wofford Victory Dance and was last seen chanting "I won the money! I won the money! on the way to some meeting he was going too. I'm guessing from that description that he won.

There is a movement afoot to get the money for Sheri, because as we all know, living with the "naked gun" can't be easy. Hang in there Sheri!

Team Competition

The team competition ended in a split decision today. The lucky team of Ron, Larry, Brent and Don won the front with a respectable+5 and stumbled on the back to a -3. The other group of gentleman golfers, Hergy, Duke, Marshall and Tommy shot a rather marginal -3 on the front and charged back to win the back nine with a score of +1. Unfortunately for the gentleman golfers, the lucky team eked out the 18 with a combined score of +2 to -2. It should be noted that the gentleman golfers had to play with the sun in their faces and the wind blowing there golf balls hither and yon! The lucky golfers had no such challenge, their golf course was shady and windless. Some how that just doesn't seem fair!

News

Be on the lookout tomorrow later today for a post of all of the Tournament details, including the team assignments and tee times! I have checked with Las Vegas bookies and they have indicated to me who is the odds on favorite for victory on Thursday! Soon the swami will reveal all! Stay tuned!
