In an attempt (a successful one) to outfox the weatherman, a "special" Friday round was played rather than the traditional Saturday clubfest. A total of six golfers had nothing on their holiday calenders and obviously had nothing better to do than contribute what little money they had left after Christmas shopping to the golfing gods.
Individual Honors
We had a tie today for the points lead with a +5. Naked Gun (at left, before the white hair) and the Orangeboy (at left, when he had hair). We had to go deep into our archives to find this rare picture that would honor this fine achievement.
That being said, they did beat up on a vastly depleted field that did not include the 2007 POY. Medalist honors for the day went to Brent with an 82.
Notable nines: Brent had a nice 39, Ronny and Tommy had 42's, IRSboy and Ron had 43's as well.
Team Competition
From what I understand, the Florence Flash unveiled his "NEW" Christmas driver (not good), Orangeboy putted like Hergy, and the Paintboy fell flatter than a can of leftover semi-gloss which allowed the team of Ronny, IRSboy, and Bankerboy to walk off with the goodies. This group posted a +8 front, with a +2 back to go +10 for the day. No word from the competition on their point (lack thereof) totals.
Things are expected to get back to normal very soon now as the holidays are over and we will be expecting the full compliment of slashers and hackers to be present on most golf days (that does not include those golfers, however, who have gone into hibernation and won't be seen til spring). Remember what they say in Green Bay, "Golf in cold weather.....is still golf". Note: You can substitute the words wet, hot, windy, chilly, etc., in place of the word "cold".
