FUTURE TEE TIMES

Thursday, September 27th 10:00 - 10:08 AM Azalea-Dogwood
Saturday, September 29th 9:20 - 9:28 AM Laurel-Azalea

*******
A great day for golf; just a little warm yet, but in the next two weeks the weather should be perfect. There are a number of players still struggling with their games and putting seems to be the culprit. The differences among the three courses seems to be at the root of the problem. Most everyone from tee to green is playing quite well and then . . . 3-4 putts per hole. It's frustrating.

Individual Honors

The winner of the individual competition was Hergy with a +3 performance, shooting a 43-44 (87). Following close behind was Don with a +2 (87). Brent posted an 88 for third place.

The only difference between Hergy and Don was that Don was playing to a 17 and Hergy was playing to an 18, which turned out to be the difference between a tie and a win. Thanks to Don for checking his handicap before the round :-).

Other notable nines: Best of the day were 43's by Hergy, Don and Brent.

Team Competition
The team of Hergy, Don and Duke easily defeated the group of pretenders, Larry, Brent and Ron. The winning group finished with a +4 for the 18, managing to put two "+" rounds together for the first time in 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately for the opposing team, they were unable or unwilling to challenge the superior golf skills shown by the winners. Aside from the fact the Ron almost decapitated Brent with an errant ricochet drive on #5 (see below), their round was "unremarkable", according to team medic, Larry.

The Story: Ron was teeing off and his drive hit the red tee marker and ricocheted back towards the tee. The ball hit Brent on the left shoulder hard enough to leave a blue ink mark from Ron's trademarked "spider design". Although it was thought to be accidental, we know that Ron has complete control over his driver and swing, and could, if he so desired, make such a thing happen. Was he perhaps sending the Clemson crew a message?

~ NEWS ~

The details of the BIG COLLEGE TOURNAMENT will be released next week, including the pairings as soon as the October handicaps have been published. Tee times have been reserved. They are: 8:48, 8:56, 9:04 and 9:12. We will play Dogwood-Azalea courses.

I had hoped to get a little later start since the weather has been cooling off, but several guys have early evening commitments and between that and dodging the women and the Peck group, this is what we came up with.

See everyone Thursday - 10:00am tee time!
