There was a pretty good turnout today. Six golfers participated in the "good times". It was a little chilly because of the wind, but when you were sheltered, it was a nice day to play. Several of our group, however, returned to their hibernating dens and decided to bypass the fun and frivolity so abundant on our golfing expeditions.

I owe an apology to my viewing public. I promised that in 2008 we would only use pictures of "beautiful people" in the blog. Last week I used a picture of Paintboy and I received a number of complaints and questions concerning how in the world he qualified under that criteria. He didn't. It was a mistake. Sorry! The good news, however, is that after seeing Don, the standard of excellence has sunk so low that everybody now qualifies. Thank you, Don!

POINTS
***********

A newbie won the points competition this morning. NJ Don (New Jersey Don - can you say Sopranos - Bada bing!) posted a +6 to rise above the fray. The rest of the assemblage (4) was content to hang out in the +1/+2 range, only two were negative, the worst being -2. The competition was quite close. Don chipped in twice (edge of green and a sandy) to help his cause. Don, you didn't read the fine print in the HHH & S membership manual, the part about rookies not winning at first and only contributing funds to the pool. Read and OBEY!

NINES
*********
88 was the score of the day with three of them being posted. Hergy, Paintboy and Brent opted for this particular number. Paintboy's round was steady (45-43=88), Hergy and Brent decided to walk on the "wild-side" with Orangeboy, shooting a 49-39=88 (steady?) and Hergy shooting almost as erratically with a 41-47=88. NJ Don posted a fine 80 (42-38=80), Ron had an 89 (44-45) and POYboy almost pulled his points with a 45-49=94.

TEAMS
*********
The team competition today consisted of two threesomes. A "split decision" was the overall result with the team of Larry, NJ Don and Hergy posting a commendable +5 1/2 on the Dogwood course to win the front. Playing less than stellar on the back, they fell to a -1/2 for an overall winning 18-hole score of +5. The team of Naked Gun, Paintboy and Orangeboy stumbled out of the shoot to a -5 on the Dogwood side, but responded nicely on Azalea to win the back with a +6. Overall they posted a +1 for the 18.

ITEMS
If it is below 50 degrees and/or raining, has been raining, or is ready to start raining; stay in bed. If none of these things come to pass, we'll see you Thursday!
