Seven golfers showed up for the Saturday contest. It was the proverbial "good news - bad news" scenerio. The "good news" was that it was a very nice day to play golf, great temperature, sunshine, etc. The "bad news" was the condition of the courses after the rains on Friday. The Laurel course, in particular, was almost unplayable. Every green was "squishy" wet, water was coming up after every step, no roll on the fairways, and sand traps were flooded. But other than that, it was nice to be able to play.

POINTS

The winner of the points competition today was the PAINTBOY with a +5 performance. Second place went to Tommy with a +3. Ron Williamson was a +1. Everyone else was in a negative position: Hergy -1, Jack and POYboy were only -2, however . It was pretty obvious that the course conditions were a definite factor in the outcome of today's tussle.

NINES

As indicated above, not too many qualified scores today. Don was also the medalist at 85. Don and Tommy had 42's and Don and Ron had 43's. In order to have anyone else on this list, we need to lower our standards a bit. Having said that: Hergy and Tommy shot 44's and Ron had a 45. Everything else was above that. Good day to work on that handicap.

TEAMS

A clean sweep for the foursome of Jack, Ron, Hergy and Tommy today. This team posted a +1 Dogwood, +1 Laurel for a +2 total for the 18. The threesome of Duke, Don and Larry failed to make it to positive numbers shooting a -3 1/2 on the Dogwood and a -1/2 on the Laurel for an 18 hole total of -4.

ITEMS

After watching the Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks Playoff game last night, is there any question why I was glad to move from Green Bay? I played golf yesterday in 60-70 degree temperatures vs. shoveling snow and freezing my butt off. Gotta love the South!

I've started to add the expected weather (weather.com) under the future golf dates - just part of the never ending services provided "free of charge" by the HHH & S blogmeister.
