Hot, Hot, Hot today, and not just the weather. Considering the condition of the courses ( aerated greens) and the heat, we (7.5 hearty souls) shot pretty decent scores.
*
After checking with Micah and adjusting the scores accordingly, I turned in the scorecards even though we had a "missing" score. Here is the "Official ruling" - When you miss a hole or two, the PROPER scoring procedure is to put down your score as though it were a NET PAR, using your correct handicap.*
Today, Number #17 (Par 3) was not playable and we decided to put down pars and skip the hole. Since the hole is the #11 handicap hole, everyone would get a stoke since everyone is above 11, the correct score to put down was 4 (bogey). Everyone would get a stoke if we were playing with handicaps, therefore every one's NET PAR score would then be a 3 (4-1).
*
Another example: If we played the #17 handicap hole, those with a handicap of 17 or greater would record a bogey (bogey minus one handicap stroke = Par). Those with a handicap of 16 or below would record a Par since they do not get a stoke on this hole and a "Net Par" for them wold be a Par. Clear? I hope so!
*
Net result: I had to raise every one's score by one stroke, so on with the blog:

Finally, the fickle finger of fate arrived at the home of the "Bugeater". In spite of the heat, and the usual "death-defying" cart ride with NASCAR Ernie, Hergy managed to keep the ball in play for 18 holes and managed to shoot a +6 to win the Points championship today. Duke and Ernie tied for second place with a +4.*
Finally able to overcome the "usual" low scorers (it helps when they don't show up) , Hergy was able to capture the medalist honors as well shooting a nice 83. Brent was close at 84, with Ernie, Duke and Don panting hard at third with 86's.
*
*****NINES*****
Considering the status of the greens and the heat and everything, we really had a pretty good day of golf, shooting an average of 86.71. Only one score in the 90's (92), everyone else in the 80's. Good golf all things considered!
-40- Hergy, Ernie -41- Don Brent, Duke -42- Hergy, Brent

-43- Louie, Ron -44- Duke, Don -45- Ernie

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
The team wasn't very close although it was a "split decision". The team of Hergy, Ernie, Louie and Don won the front (+12 1/2) Dogwood and the 18 (+11) but faltering on the back (Azalea) to a -1 1/2.
*
The team of Ron, Brent and Duke and Larry - before he fell victim to the heat - lost the front scoring only a +1 (vs. +12 1/2), but rallying on the back to post a +4 (+4 to a -1 1/2)to salvage a small portion of their investment.
