We had 7 golfers out for the coins today. Turned out to be a real humid day even though the temperatures weren't to bad. The course is improving, especially since they have finally trimmed back the long rough. Can't believe we are into September and the fun days of Fall golf are just ahead.

I was going to print one of my smarmy posts about the winner of the points contest today, but seeing the outcome of the Clemson debacle, I think he may have suffered enough by simple association. Yes, "Walking Eagle" was the winner today, posting a real nice +6 to steal the victory from Hergy at +5.

Duke was also the medalist today, again beating out the "Bug-eater by one stroke, 83 to 84.

Maybe Duke should contact Tommy Bowden and discuss "how to close the deal"! It is one thing to play bad and lose like they did, but that was butt-ugly football! A top-level coach should be able to rally the troops and save the season, we'll see how they deal with adversity - they haven't handled success to well! Now, back to golf!

We had a pretty good scoring day today. 12 of the 14 rounds were bogey or better!

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****

The team competition ended in a split decision this morning. The team of Walt, Duke and Tommy (Dan played but didn't score) won the back nine (Azalea) and the Eighteen. Don't have the details but they were in positive on both nines and easily outpointed the competition

The team of Hergy, Louie, Larry and Don dazzled on the front (+9 1/2 - Dogwood) and then crashed on the back (-7 1/2) to finish at +2. Good, but not good enough on this day.
