*****

Very nice turnout this morning - 14 golfers (12 of which made it on time) to open the fall session of our golf competition. Everything considered, the course is looking pretty nice as we head into fall. I don't think that anybody will miss the rough when it disappears later this month.
If fact, we found an old car on #3 today. The rough was so thick it was covered up!

*****POINTS*****

Well, the "Myrtle Beach Master of Mathematics", known to some of you as "teacher-boy" and to others as Walter won all the money today - $14.00 (Carole, if your reading this, Walter promised to take you out for a nice dinner if he won today, so hold him to it!) Walt shot a very impressive +7 to edge out the Duke-ster of Love with his +6.
*
Bob was the medalist today shooting a low of 81 with his new irons, Tommy (a.k.a. Greek Boy for the next couple of weeks - Bon Voyage to Greece Tommy, send money!) shot an 83 for second, with Duke at third with a 84. Tommy, when in Greece never, never, bend over to pick up the soap!

*****SCORES*****
Bogey (90)or below rounds today were:
  • 81 - Bob - Medalist
  • 83 - Tommy
  • 84 - Duke
  • 86 - Walt - Points Winner
  • 87 - Brent
  • 89- Hergy, Louie
  • 90 - George, Larry
*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
You would think that with all those golfers that we would have a very competitive and close "Team Competition".......and you'd be almost correct.
*
The team of George, Duke, Jack and Bob won the Front nine (Azalea) with a very nice +6, but fell to a +1 on the Dogwood to prevent a sweep of the honors. For the 18 however, they had enough of a cushion to win by +1 (7 to 6).
*
The team of Hergy, Brent, Marshall and Ernie rallied past the troops to easily win the back, shooting a socre of +6 1/2. They had a terrible front nine (-10 1/2) which prohibited their winning the 18 and finishing poorly at -4. How bad can it be when you win some money?
*
The team that fell through the cracks and probably should have won something was the team of Ron, Walt and Larry! They shot a +2 1/2 on the front, a +3 1/2 on the back for a +6 to fall ONE short for the 18. Too bad Losers! :-(
Last and certainly not least was the team of Tommy, Louie and Don (-5 1/2, +4 1/2 = +1). Simply put, they were at the wronog place at the wrong time. They shot well, just not well enough to win! Boo Hoo cry babies ! :-(
