The 2009 HHH & S Golf season is under way!
The season kick off this morning was NICE! We had a "nice" day to play, we had a "nice" turnout (9) , we had a bunch of "nice" rounds of golf, and everyone was "nice" to each other! Also new, is a kinder, gentler blog and a more mild blogger at the controls! Mellow is the word for the 2009 season.....(if I win a lot that is!) Now, isn't that a "NICE" start!
*
*****POINTS COMPETITION*****
*
Our reigning POY was MIA this morning (wasn't that "nice") so an old familiar face dropped into the winning slot! NASCAR Ernie jumped into the lead with a very good score of +9. That's going to be one of the top scores for the year, and it was on the first day! That's tough competition!*
Good as that was though, Tommy was only one behind at +8, and Hergy and Duke were lurking in the background at +6 and +5 respectively. Tommy managed to easily win the medalist honors today with an 81 (41-40). Nice round Tommy!
*
Did I mention that this year's POY winner was absent? Apparently the little "Wofford puppy-boy" was afraid the dog catcher would get him or was it the competition!
*
*****HONOR ROLL*****
*
We had a lot of real good scores today, considering the year-end layoff and the conditions of the course! Wet, wet, wet and the greens were far from perfect. The new course superintendent appears to be making some headway with the course however. There is a general look of care and repair begin to permeate the courses. Lets hope it continues!
*
Now on to the scores!
-40- Tommy, Louie
-41- Tommy
-42- Hergy
-43- Hergy, Ernie(2), Duke
-44- Ron
-45- Don

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
*
Even though today was supposed to be a lead in to the season, we started out with a bang. High scores for the nines was common place and the competition close. Even though we had nine golfers this morning, only eight participated in the Team Competition. Dan didn't (but should of) since he got his points, which included a birdie.
*
The team of Tommy, Hergy, Louie and Ron won 2/3 rd's of today's money pot. This group fired a +6 on the Dogwood (Lost) and a +11 on the Azalea (Won) to capture the 18 title with a +17.
*
The other group of Duke, Ernie, Walt and Don won the front (Dogwood) with a +8, played well the second nine (Azalea) with a +5 (Lost) and fell short of the 18 mark, posting only a +13.
*
Those are two real good scores to start out the competition!
*
*****ITEMS*****
Please try and arrive "on-time" - at least ten -fifteen minutes before our scheduled tee time so that we can pick the appropriate teams configurations, and then piss and moan about it before we tee off. It's kind of a "nice" thing to do! If you're going to be a little late, call so we can include you in the team selection!
