********
* A little cooler weather-wise today and therefore not quite as many golfers (7) but the weather improved and the quality of golf is holding steady, even the POY returned to action.
*
We still have a couple of MIA's for 2009 (Marshall, Jack, Brent and I think Walter......sorry I'm not in Aiken and don't have my data available). Come on guys, lets get out and exercise and, as Don says, "It's the most fun you can have for four dollars".
*
*****POINTS COMPETITION*****
*

Another dazzling performance today, for the second straight outing the winner posted a +9. what used to be the exception, at least in 2008, has now become the rule.
*
The winner today was the 'ol Nebraska boy himself. The "Bugeater" smoked the competition, with TV/Rev Louie placing second with a +5 performance. In addition, both Larry and Ron posted scores of +3. Hergy also won the medalist honors with an 82 and shooting the first sub-40 round of the new year. Louie shot an 85 and Ron fired a 87 to round out the top rounds of the day.
*
*****HONOR ROLL*****
*
As mentioned above, we had the first sub-40 round of the year. Slowly but surely the course(s) seem to be a little more improved and the golf scores are showing it! All but a couple of the scores were in the "positive" point range today, with only two falling under their needed point totals. I have a feeling that this "bubble" of high point wins will burst within the next couple of outings and we'll get back to more realistic scoring. After all, most of us still really suck at this game!
*
-38- Hergy
-42- Louie
-43- Louie, Ron
-44- Ron, Hergy
-45- Larry, Duke, George
*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
We had a 1/3 - 2/3rd's split today. The team of Larry, Louie and Ron posted a +4 1/2 to win the Azalea competition, but lost the Dogwood with a +6 1/2, but won the 18 with an overall score of +11.
*
The foursome of Duke, George, Hergy and Don dazzled with a very nice +9 on the Dogwood and imploded with a -4 on the Azalea (slick greens) to finish a ways back at +5 for the 18.
*
*****ITEMS*****
** The Azalea course will be closed next week for repairs - that's why the Laurel is in the lineup.
*
**I attended a meeting last night (see this months Houndslake bulletin) to make sure we would have an input in the discussions/changes that may or may not come about. I will detail a little more about the meeting and it's content later. I am "relaxing" at Isle of Palm and most of my "stuff" is at home in Aiken.
