Yes, Virginia, there is Saturday golf!
The editor of the HHH&S (Houndslake Hackers, Hookers & Slicers) has decided that part of our responsibilities to the golfing public is to report significant happenings throughout the week, rather than just Tuesday & Thursday as was our original charter! (Besides, I have the time to do it!).
We had a nice day for the outing mainly because of a rather stiff breeze that continued throughout the round. We had 6 strikers of the ball which made for two competitive threesomes!
Individual Honors:
Dr. Larry won the individual pool with another excellent round of +5
(87). When discussing his round with Mr. Allen and the Editor, Larry (the ungrateful) said, "I've been winning so often lately, it's almost "no fun" anymore." Ernie and I were in total shock at the audacity of Dr. Larry to "diss" his longtime playing partners.
Later, Larry in an aside comment to Ernie, said he really enjoyed coming out and talking to the "little people". Needless to say, the POY committee members in attendance were less than impressed with his attitude. (This conversation can be verified by at least three members (a.k.a. , little people) in attendance at the 19th hole.
The more humble members of the group with nice rounds were Tommy with an 83 (+3) and Hergy with an 87 (+2) and Walt with a 94, but a nice +2 showing .
The team of Tommy, Don and the afore mentioned ungrateful one (please note what one of his team mates thinks by glancing just a little above Larry's head) had a very respectable +6 on the front (Dogwood) and a modest +4 on the back (Azalea). The other group of Walt, Ernie and Hergy posted a +1 1/2 on the front and a + 1/2 on the back (+2 for the 18). Upon closer inspection of the loser's round, it was noted that the golf course (the putting greens in particular) and not the golfers who were responsible for the bad scores. It was agreed by all of the team members that if the course had cooperated, we would have shot a much better round.
CAUTION:
Please be careful around the first Par 3 (#3 on the Dogwood Course ) . It has been confirmed that there is actually new sand in the bunker on the left side. If you go there, you may have to hit a shot out of SAND!
BTW: To be fair to Larry, he did try to say that the statement(s) attributed to him above were in jest, that he was only kidding! We'll leave it to the POY committee to determine the validity of his remorseful denials!
