Golf Report: Thursday August 23, 2007

Tee Times:

August 28, Tuesday 9:12AM Laurel-Azalea

August 30 Thursday 9:12AM Dogwood-Laurel

Today can best be described as an UNDECIDED day. First, the weather couldn't decide whether or not to rain, be overcast or be sunny, so it did all three. Then the winning team couldn't decide on what type of golf they were playing (+14 on the front -2 on the back), and also a certain golfer (ERA) had a 10 (as in T-E-N) stroke difference between nines, so he definitely couldn't decide what he was doing! Therefore, I'm "UNDECIDED" as to whether it was just "one of those days" or the fact that we kind of suck (as a group) at golf. (Want to guess which way I'm leaning?)

Individual Honors:

Tommy won today's point shoot-out with a very commendable +6
(39-42 for 81 for the day). Ernie, Duke and Ron followed with +3's for second place.

Other Nine hole notable rounds were: Ron with a 41 on Dogwood and Ernie with a 39 (and a 49 on the Azalea course, Ugh!) Duke and Tommy had 42's and Brent and Don shot 43's for their best nines.

Also, welcome back, after an absence of a couple weeks, to Marshall (The Hook-meister) and to almost Grampa-again Jack! Try to come more often boys, and of course, bring your money..........lots and lots of money!!

Team Competition:

With 11 players today, we had a great outing: 2 foursomes and a 3-some. Tommy, Duke and Ernest Ray smoked the field with a sizzling +14 points on the front nine (Dogwood) and then a MINUS 2 on the back. Did anybody get an explanation from these sandbaggers how that could happen?

Due to their generosity, the foursome of Marshall, Ron, Hergy and Jack snuck to victory on the back nine with a dazzling MINUS 1. We were almost to embarrassed to pick up the winnings,
but fought down our shame (sure we did) and pocketed the money anyway. The last foursome of Brent, Walt, Larry and Don.........well, let's just say say they finished and no one got hurt!

MOODY REPORT:
Just got a call from Duke and he reported that per Kay, Bob is doing okay and resting easy. He had a "triple bypass and a rotor rooter". Looks like he'll be in Aiken Regional for at least a week or more before being released. Golf will be an Oct/Nov occurrence. Watch out then, he'll be back ,better than new and probably twice as 'ornery. I think we'll all be glad to see him anyway!

That's it for now!

Reserve October 4th on your golfing calendar! BIG TOURNAMENT - details to follow!
