We had a decent turnout this AM. We had 8 1/2 golfers (actually 4 1/2 golfers, 2 hackers and 2 assorted hacker/slicers. We welcomed back an old friend, Marcus Huff, who joined us for nine holes today. (He's the 1/2 mentioned above). He plays once a year and shoots better than most of our team! Of course, he's a Wofford man and he has the luck of the puppy to go along with his golf skills.

Individual Honors

This is getting to the point that it is no longer funny. Brent shot a +11 today and had his second straight sub-40 round, shooting a 40-38 (78) and he bogeyed the final two holes to keep his handicap down.

He will not share with anyone the brand name or the strength of his steroid supplement, but heavens, man, give us a chance. It has been rumored that there may be actually two Brent's, and the one we know and love (the one that shoots 40-52) and is on vacation, and his "doppleganger" (look it up if you don't know) has been having his way with us! Please, please, will the real Brent come back.........we miss him and his monetary contribution!

Team Competition

This is a laugher, since Brent, with his +11, beat the team of Tommy, Hergy, Jack and Don without any help from his teammates. The best this group could do was shoot a -2 on the front and a "0" on the back for an 18 hole total of -2. The other team of Ron, Larry, Duke and Sandbagger, however, were a modest +7 on the front, a +6 on the back for a convincing +13 point output which ended up being a +15 point victory for the 18. Just a little bit of overkill, don't you think, boys?

Other decent rounds for the day included a 41 (Azalea) by Ron, a 42 (Dogwood) by Hergy, and of course, the 40-38 by you know who! Hergy had a "sandy-in-the-leather" eagle on the Par 5, #7 Dogwood.

News

**************

Both Clemson and USC have gone over a month without anyone on their football teams getting arrested! Nebraska, on the other hand, has gone a month without winning a game and holding the opponent under 40 points. Wofford, taking a lesson from Spurrier and USC, failed to show up and was beaten by a pretty good Elon team!
