Summer just keeps hanging on! The weather is trying to change, but just can't seem to get it done. It kind of sounds like everyone's golf game - trying to get better, but just can't seem to get it done! Had a good turnout today, seven hackers/slashers made it to the course this morning. Here are the results:
Individual Honors
Mr. Cornhusker was the big winner today. Hergy, continuing to hit his "chicken sticks", was + 5 for the 18, posting a 42-43 (85). Asked by this reporter to issue a profound statement concerning his game, Hergy replied, "Hitting the ball in the fairway is good!" I couldn't have said it any better! Duke was right on his tail with a +3 and Tommy played well also, but I don't have the point total for the Clemson dazzler!Notable nines: Hergy had the 42-43 (85) and Tommy lead all golfers with a 40-44 (84). Brent continued his up/down play with a 42-48 (90). No one was over the 100 mark, but it wasn't for lack of trying!
Team Competition
The team of Ron, Tommy, Duke and Brent shot a very poor front nine, allowing the team of Larry, Hergy and Jack to cruise to a -1 to - 3 1/2 point victory. Their lackadaisical play did not continue as they stormed out to a very good +5 1/2 on the back to -1 for the competitors. That point difference allowed them to sweep the 18 hole victory +2 1/2 to -2. The losing team, in interviews after the round, felt that they, just like Clemson football team, are better than their scores indicate, but blamed the loss on poor coaching, poor special teams play and bad ball selection. From this reporters viewpoint, the turning point of the match occurred just before tee off, when choosing up the teams. ;-)

It was previously reported the Jack's new grandchild was a little boy, bringing the total to 5 (3 boys, 2 girls)! Well, we were correct about the little boy part, but stand corrected on the count. It is 4 boys and 1 grand-daughter. Sorry about that Grandpa Jack!
