I was really surprised this morning at the putt-around. At least five or more of you were aware that there was a "scoring irregularity" concerning last Tuesday's competition. I guess that s-l-o-w speakin', s-l-o-w movin' Southern boy act is just a facade for most of you.
Interesting, though, there was a line at the handicap computer this AM to check out the current status of everyone's game. As evidenced by the recent multiple winners falling by the wayside, things do tend to even out when all the scores are entered and handicaps are adjusted.
------------
There was a big turnout today: 11 "older" athletes rose up out of the early morning mist to vie for the title of "Supreme Golfing Dude". The weather was perfect, the course is playing great and everyone was drugged up and ready to compete. Let's have a HIP-HIP--HOORAY for ADVIL!
Individual Honors
Mr. Naked Gun (aka Supreme Golfing Dude) won the point total today with a +5, shooting a 43-42=85 to win both the point and medalist titles. Next best rounds were a 42 by George and 43's by Brent, Tommy, Hergy and Don. No one hit the 50 mark, nor did anyone get bit by the 100-strokes devil. Lots of so-so rounds.
Team Competition
I don't know where to start on this item. Everyone won a little and lost a little with one exception. The team of Larry, Brent, Hergy and Duke tied with the threesome of Marshall, Tommy and Ron to split the front 9 with a "0" total. The team of Ernie, George, Walter and Don tied with the threesome of Marshall, Tommy and Ron with a +1 total for the back nine. The threesome won the 18 with a +1with the other team's posting negative numbers (-2 and -1/2). The big winners (tie on the front, tie on the back, and 18 overall) were the threesome, or as some of their less classy competitors refer to them; Moe, Shep and Larry (not our Dr. Larry, the movie stooge, Larry).
----------
Rumor has it that this ditsy threesome, though they won the money today, were lucky to find their way home. We are also advised that the teams with the best talent don't always win and at the end of the day, the losers cry "wee, wee, wee" all the way home and the winners count their chips!

News
---------
A separate item will be forthcoming concerning the details of the December 18th Christmas Party. That blog will be titled: Christmas Party (duh)!
It was reported that Ernie beat out Duke for the shortest hit of the day! Apparently Ernie smashed his ball an astounding 3", thereby surpassing a 6" chip of Duke's. What some guys will do to gain notoriety.
Since he was my cartmate, I am obligated and honored to report that today Duke set the all-time modern record for being in, by, or near 63 sand traps in a single round....and he still pulled his points. Good job "sand-boy"!
We're still looking for names for the group. I have six or seven that we will narrow down to two or three to vote on! The final announcement will be at the Christmas Party.
