We had been asking where the fall/winter weather was....we found out today. It was in Aiken, SC! What can you say about the conditions today? How about W-I-N-D-Y! Wow, what a crummy day to play and it sure showed in the scores!

Individual Honors

Little Ronnie Williamson (Mr. Naked Gun) led all the big hitters today to win the points competition with a modest +3 (44-43=87). Close behind was fellow Wofford puppy golfer, Walter, with a +2. Overall, the scores sucked with Tommy shooting the best 9 with a 41 on the Dogwood course and a 45 on Azalea for an 86 and medalist honors. There were a couple of 43's (Larry & Ron), but otherwise most everyone was in the 90's.

Team Competition

The team of Tommy, Dan and Walter snuck away with all the money today. They managed a -2 1/2 on the front, a +2 1/2 on the back to finish the 18 at "0". The team of Jack, Larry (POY) and Duke finished second with a -9, +2 for a -7 18-hole total. Last and least, the team of Don (we are changing his nickname from "Paint-Boy" to "Anchorman", Ron and Hergy shot a more conventional -5 1/2, -2 1/2 to finish at a -8. Yuck!

----------------------------

I'm a little worried about these Clemson boys. On the coldest day of the year (so far) Tommy shows up in shorts (duh) and Don shows up in short sleeves (double duh). Cornhuskers and Chicken Boys may be a little slow at times, but good heavens, we know how to dress for the weather at least!

NEWS

It is depressing to me that I must report this next bit of information, but to prevent further abuse, something must be said. Larry (reigning POY for 2005-06) has been in violation of the trademark and logo infringement statutes in the HHH & S bylaws and constitution. He showed up today sporting a hat with POY (and the years of his awards) embroidered on the back of his hat.

First and foremost we cannot, nay, will not blame his daughter for this travesty (Larry tried to make her responsible for his "out-of-control" ego trip). But we hold Dr. Larry 100% responsible. Several members of our group ( who shall remain nameless) were almost in tears over this horrific breach of etiquette and felt that the good Dr. was dissing them (we picked up that term from the rappers in our group).

It is conceivable that the POY Selection Committee could revoke - yes fans, I said revoke, his previous awards and black-ball him from further eligibility. Hopefully, they will come to the realization that this possibly was a one-time slip up and Larry should not be penalized to that degree. However, I do hope that the other "Men of the Puppy" (Wofford graduates, that is) will be able to convince Larry to show a little more restraint in the future and not flaunt his sports successes in the face of those less fortunate. Although in spite of it all, the embroidery looked really nice and I wish I could do that with my hats!

What is this world coming to? Clemson guys don't know how to dress, Wofford guys don't know how to be humble, Carolina guys can't beat Clemson at football (whoops, that's next week). What's next? Presbyterian beats Nebraska in football.......hmm that's a definite possibility this year!
