When we started out today, I think everyone was a little apprehensive. With the stiff wind from the Southwest, it was very chilly (I will not use the word cold!) as we started. After about a half hour, it was very pleasant and remained so throughout the day. Unfortunately, the improving weather did not transfer to our golf games, they certainly did not improve as the day wore on.

Eight diligent souls braved the elements to have a try at the elusive "money pool". Two evenly matched foursomes set about the day's work wirth startling results.

POINTS

*******************

The scores were so bad today that I have been requested NOT to use anyone's name.

The big winner today was IRSboy. You can tell it's almost tax season again, the former IRS wizard snuck in and stole the Points victory with a +1. Yes golf fans, that is not a typo......a PLUS ONE (+1).

While POYboy, the Florence Flash (ERA) and the Clemson Wannbe (aka Orangeboy) managed to break even (0), they could not overcome the ruthless manner in which IRSboy brushed away the competition. Two others, Paintboy and Huskerboy were close behind at -1 and the Bankerboy and the Naked Gun fell off the truck somewhere near the turn. Wannabe turned in the medalist round today with an 87.......only round in the 80's.

In case you think it was the chilly weather that was responsible for these scores, it wasn't. Think putting! No one in the assembled group can putt the fast/slow, wet/dry, breaking/non-breaking, grassy/non-grassy, bumpy/slick, etc............ I think you get the point! No one shot real bad, its just that no one shot real well either. Kind of a muddle in the middle.

NINES

*********

Not a lot of good news here golf fans, Husker boy had a 42 for the low round today, Wannabe and Paintboy had 43's. Wannabe also had a 44 (44-43=87) and the Flash and Naked Gun had 45's, that was it for bogey golf. Our scoring average today: 91.75 Grade: D

TEAM

********

The foursome of Hergy, Brent, Jack and ERA swept to a back nine and 18 hole victory over the foursome of Larry, Don, Tommy and Ron. The winning group posted a modest -4 1/2 on the front in a losing effort and followed that with a + 4 1/2 to break even (0) for the day.

Their competition wasn't as fortunate. After posting a + 1/2 and winning the front nine (Dogwood), the group shanked, sliced, stumbled to a -11 1/2 on the back nine (Azalea) to finish the 18 with a 2008 record-setting -11 for the round. That friends, is an ugly number! According to the group, they earned every stroke of it!
