Nice turnout this morning. It's great to have all of our travelers back at home base! We had seven golfers for the Points competition on this sunny first day of March, 2008. The course is rounding into very nice shape with the exception of the greens. The greens are almost impossible to putt right now, in their current condition. Today, #'s 2 and 3 on the Azalea were impossible. It was more like Putt-Putt minature golf on those particular greens. Right now, its all about the pin placement. That being said, here are the results:

POINTS
We had a split decision this morning. Husker-boy and Paint-boy survived the putting woes and finished a decent, but unspectacular +2. Naked Gun was the only other golfer to post a positive number (+1). The other four fell to the evil golf gods.

NINES
With the high scores shot today, this section remains a little thin on entries:
-41-
Ron, Hergy
-42-
Moody, Don
-44-
Moody
-45-
Hergy
With a possible 14 "nines" being played, only 6 were better than bogey (4 of those were by two players), that's only 42%. That is tough golf!

TEAMS
Fortunate for some and unfortunate for others, the three best rounds for the day, were all on the same teams. The result was a sweep of the team contest. Hergy, Ron, Moody and Walter combined to dazzle the troops with a -2 on the Dogwood, a -3 on the Azalea for an overall 18 hole victory of -5. But alas, how could such a poor score carry the day, you ask in utter amazement?
*
When the other team (we'll use no names to protect the innocent) of POY-boy, Paint-boy and Duncan of Clemson fame, sets a 2008 record for futility (that would be a -13), a -5 victory looks like a crushing defeat! The 2008 individual record for most negative points was also set today (-9), as was the record for worst winning score (-5). Are we having fun yet?

ITEMS
It was agreed upon by those present that we are going to particpate in the HCC Senior Spring Golf Tournament to be held on Thusday, March 6th. We can play in our own foursomes, from the gold tees and tee off around the same time as we usually do. I turned in 7 names and can add more if need be. If you were not here today, and want to participate with us in this event let me know on Tuesday or e-mail me and I'll get you set up.
*
The format will be individual medal play (Gross and Net), using the "Rules of Golf" vs. the HHH &S modified version. At the present time, we comprise a major portion of the tounament players (7 of 10), but they expect more to sign up in the coming week.
