Wow, what a great day to play golf. I know, I know, some of you hibernators thought it was too cold this morning. Granted, it was a little cool early, but by 11:15 it was perfect! The later it got, the better the weather! We had nine golfers for the trials today, three threesomes and a different course - Laurel - for the taking, except it was us who got taken!

POINTS
As you can see by the picture to the left, things have really begun to deteriorate when TV-Louie actually wins the Points competition. Piling up a +4 for today's round, Louie eked out his one point victory over Moody's and Ron's +3's. Things got a little crazy today on the scoring because #8 on the Laurel was under repair. (See #1 under Items).

Moody was the medalist today, shooting a very nice 81 (39-42) and no one was within 3-4 strokes of that score.

NINES
Scoring Average for today was: 87.6 That's a B and the second highest (best) average for 2008

TEAM COMPETITION
We had a unique happening today in the team game, for the first time I can remember we had a 3 way tie for the money.
That in itself is not unusual, but what is different was there were no ties. The team of Jack, Moody and Don won the front nine (Dogwood) with a +8. Brent, Hergy and POY-boy won the back (Laurel) with a +2 1/2. Louie, Ron and Duke won the eighteen with a +9. (I think those scores are right, I may have mixed up the stuff but the end result is correct.)

***ITEMS***
I'm kind of glad things came out as they did and virtually no money exchanged hands, except for the TV Troll winning the points competition.
*
It seems, at least to my knowledge, that we did not decide on how #8 (Laurel) should be handled and a review of the scorecards indicated that every group handled it differently thus actually "invalidating" the Team Competition.
*
One group scored it as a "PAR" and took the points, one ignored it totally and the other group subtracted (decreased) their point totals to compensate for the fact that there were only 8 holes vs. 9. In any event, it came out okay in the wash (no harm, no foul), but we should maybe have an understanding on what we should do if this or something like it should occur (remember we play at HCC) again.
*
The "Club" by the way, handled it quite nicely......offering a nine-hole cart credit to those of you who pay and a free bucket of range balls for those of us on the cart plan. IMO, Micah and his guys are seemingly going out of their way to improve our outings from time to time. I don't think the old regime would have done much to compensate for the "misunderstanding". Anyway, they seem to be trying!
