Seven golfers this morning. It was a little chilly with the wind but once you got off the hill, things got a little better, although they never got "warm".

*
*****POINTS******
Hey, guess who's back! Duke (a.k.a. Walking Eagle) after a 3 month absence from the winner's circle has returned. His last Points victory came on January 29th believe it or not. Welcome back Duke.....just don't start to make a habit of winning though! Once every three months is just fine.
*
The little guy posted a +5 to eke out a victory over Jack and Larry(+4's). Apparently last weeks trip to Edisto and the subsequent rest was all Duke's game needed to cure itself.
*
Paint-boy was the medalist today firing an 87 and edging out Tommy and Duke (88's) for the most meaningless award in the sport of Golf.
*
*****NINES*****
-42-
Duke, Tommy
-43-
Don
-44-
Hergy, Ron, Don
-45-
Jack, Larry
*
Scoring Average for the group today was a pretty decent 89.57. That's below bogey golf so I guess that's good. Unfortunately, as shown below, all of the "good" scores happened to be on one team.
*
*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
Today was a lesson in playing as well as you can, because that old pig may just find that acorn he's always searching for. The team of Don, Duke, Larry and Tommy won 2/3 rd's of the team competition this morning. Posting a poor - 1/2 on the front, they got their act together and posted a +10 1/2 on the back for an 18 hole total of +10.
*
The threesome of Hergy, Jack and Ron didn't fare as well. Posting a modest + 1 1/2 on the front (to win it), and a very modest (not) -1 1/2 on the back to finish at "0" for the day, they were able to salvage a minor victory.
*
Actually, the way that group played (putting, in particular) they had no business even coming close, but alas, the underdog always has a shot at the prize if you keep swinging, that's why we play the game isn't it!
*
*****ITEMS*****
The Club has a couple of major tourney's coming up that may interfere with our schedule a little.
*
This Saturday (April 19) is very busy due to some tournament and a couple of outings. We will be able to get a time, but I have to check in person with the Pro shop. They have blocked out large amounts of time to cover the "anticipated" activity and they usually release a bunch of those times when the true tournament sign-up is completed. Stay tuned!
*
Tuesday (April 22nd) the Peach Belt Conference has their Championship at HCC. This doesn't appear to impact our schedule since we can go to Laurel/Azalea and miss all the activity.
*
Also, next week, Thursday (April 25th) is the Joe Wyatt Memorial Golf tournament, which literally closes the course. Solution: ROAD TRIP We are going to try Ft. Gordon, but I can't make the reservations until a week out. Put it in your calendar, from what I hear it's a great course and a worthwhile trip!
*
I'll post the details a little later, we are looking for a LATE start though, probably after 10:30 - 11:00. Apparently it will take a little more than an hour to get there, getting through the base security system and onto the course! More info as it becomes available!
