On one level, the road trip to North Augusta Country Club was successful (We got to play golf and everyone returned home safe and sound), but on another level it S-U-C-K-E-D! The course was drier than the Mohave Desert in July.
*
Way to many unseen landing areas, unseen water hazards and hard dirt lies and huge bounces in the fairways which resulted penalty strokes or ugly lies once the ball finally came to rest. A couple of the guys liked it.....those who shot well (see below), but most were a little disappointed in the quality of the course.

*****POINTS*****
For the 4th time in 2008, the Dukester (a.k.a.Walking Eagle) rose to the top of pile and walked away with the POINTS victory by scoring a sizzling 80 (38-40) for a +11 point total. The course, difficult for most, proved to fit Duke's game to a tee. Short and down the middle seems to trump long, bouncing, rolling, penalty-shot infested shots most of us attempted.*
Because of a scoring "quirk", we changed a Par 5 to a Par 4 and the scorecards got a little messed up so I'm not sure of some of the accompanying score information.
*
Duke was also the medalist for the day (38 - ties the 2008 record for low round) followed closely by the "Wanna-be" with an 81 and Mr. Moody and Tommy with 83's.

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
*
The information I have on the team competition is really screwed up, so I can only vouch for the overall results. The threesome of Duke, Jack and Moody won everything. Ron, Walt and Brent finished 2nd overall and the threesome of Tommy, Hergy and Larry brought up the rear....mainly because the POY was all sandbagged out from his previous adventures and the fact that his handicap finally caught up with him. :-) - as it will to all the other sandbaggers in the group!
*****ITEMS******
Make sure to check the starting times as they are tending to jump around a little as we try and avoid obvious "slowdowns"
