We had a "quiet" day today, even though it rained early this morning, the course held up quite well. The greens are nowhere as nice as Aiken Golf Club, but our fairways and layout are tough to beat. I guess nothing is perfect......or if it is, you usually can't afford it! ;-).
*
We had six golfers for the contest this morning. Two threesomes went to battle and it wasn't!
*
*****POINTS*****

The Paint-boy cleaned every one's clock today! Even though he is sporting a rather new 17 handicap, Don played like a man possessed. He finished the day at +10 to blow away the competition. That is the Houndslake 2008 best POINT round of the year. Duke, at North Augusta CC, had a +11 to set the record for the year. To show how dominant Don was today, the next closest golfer today was Hergy at +4.
*
Don posted a 40-39=79 for one of the few sub-80 rounds (second) of the year and ties Moody for the low round of 2008. Obviously, Don walked away with the medalist award for the round! Way to go Don. Check the "ITEMS" category to find out why Don is not be harassed as a "sandbagger"!
*
If we hadn't been playing a six-some (that's another whole story in itself), I wouldn't have believed that he wasn't counting every shot. I think, in retrospect, that Suzanne has been lacing his food with some type of steroids.

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
With Don shooting "lights out" and his teammates Tommy and Jack playing well, the results of the Team Competition were rather academic. They beat us up and left us for roadkill this morning.
*
Posting only modest numbers of +3 1/2 on the front and +2 1/2 on the back for an overall 18 of +6, they surpassed the other threesome of Hergy, Duke and Larry (-2 1/2, +3 1/2 = +1) to win easily.
*
*****ITEMS*****
Since I will be gone from our little group for approximately 30 days I have arranged with the club to set up a starting time on every Tuesday- Thursday for the next 4 weeks (Till June 13th). That time will consist of three times starting at 10:00 - 10:08 - 10:16. The course may vary but you will at least have a consistent starting time.
*
I did not arrange for a Saturday time. Those of you who play in our group on Saturday will havr to adjust for yourself.
*
Don and Brent have graciously agreed to track and record the scores during my absence. Basically, I am tracking all players their scores, who are the daily winners (Points, Medalist and how the three nines are split.) I keep the data in a database which brings us to our next topic.......
*
Attached, via e-mail, under separate cover is a listing and averaging of all scores for all players since January 1, 2008. The average score (also handicap) at the bottom should be your TRUE and correct handicap playing from the GOLD TEES, with our HCC rules (Out Of Bounds, Gimmes, etc.) I have recorded every score in which four or more HCC members have participated and have been given to me. Basically, its those scores where I have played and recorded them myself and a few which were given to me when I didn't. Almost all Tuesday/Thursday matches have been recorded. Saturday/Sunday ones less so. Any match, anytime with 4 or more HCC members is eligible for inclusion in the database!
*
If we decide on how to convey the scores on a regular basis - this system is sandbagger proof. My suggestion would be to produce and distribute the report every SUNDAY/MONDAY via e-mail and that would be your handicap for the next week contests. Give it some thought while I'm gone and we can discuss when I return.
*
I'll volunteer to do the recording and tracking if this is something we want to do!
