Well, the road trip was a success. We had 10 golfers for the Aiken Golf Club outing this morning. The AGC was in very good shape. The greens were in excellent shape and very, very difficult to putt. They must have borrowed the pin setter from Houndslake, some of the placements were comical. Oh well, we had a nice turnout, a great day ( a little warm ), and good camaraderie with friends, I think.

*****POINTS*****
We had another tie this morning for the Points Championship. Here you can see the two winners, TV-Louie and NASCAR Ernie "discussing" the merits of their individual handicaps. We had a little mix up about what handicaps and when they are posted. After a brief discussion, it was decided that +6 was the winning number and both of the above turkeys qualified (again) for the money. I have a little editorial comment below under "ITEMS" for your review.

Duke had a nice round of +5 to come close to the POINTS but his putter let him down for most of the day!

Brent posted an 83 to win the mythical "Medalist" honors, with Moody, Ernie and Louie posting 84's to tie for second place.......which as we know, means nothing, as does first place!

Scoring Average for the day was : 88.6, another day below BOGEY golf. Must be all the new hybrid clubs that is improving the scoring. It can't be that we are getting more skillful, could it?

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
We had an even split on the team competition this morning. The team of Ernie, Moody and Brent won the front with a score of +1/2 (back +5 1/2). The team of Hergy, Duke, Louie and Larry won the back with a score of +6 1/2 (-1/2 on the back). They split the 18, each with a total score of +6.

Falling into the black hole of oblivion was the third group of Don, Walt and Jack. They played just well enough to finish third and just our of the money. But , they had fun!!!!!!

*****ITEMS*****
I don't want this to sound like sour grapes, etc. and I'm not trying to pick on TV, but Louie has won 6 of the last 10 Points competitions in which he has played, and finished 2nd in two others. He is averaging over a +6 victory margin - I do believe we need to visit how we calculate when we have a mixed handicap- white tees and gold tees, in order to make sure that everyone has a fair chance to win.
*
We kid about the sandbagging stuff, but it is obviously more of a handicapping problem than anyone purposefully bagging their scores to win money. Unfortunately, it seems to take away a little of the fun when the focus is on how we calculate the score rather than what was the score.

Be patient, we'll get it worked out!
Duh Editor!
