We had a nice turn out on Saturday - 7 golfers showed for the morning festivities. The weather held on and it was a very pleasant day to play golf on an almost deserted golf course.
*
It was a tough day in one regard though, they had aerated and sanded the greens so putting was a real challenge (Duh! isn't it always) - in other words it probably cost an average of three strokes for the round which most of us cannot afford.

*****POINTS*****
As you can see, the 3 time POY struck again. Larry dazzled the assembled group with a +4 to win the Points title this morning. Now, I don't want to complain and far be it from me to question someone golf's scores, BUT, what would you call someone who had won FOUR times since April 1st? Does a long word with the sub-word "bagger" ring a bell?*
I mean let's get serious here folks...four times is a lot of wins for a year, let alone a little over a month. I suspect that the Golf Police are going to have to do a little investigation. I have a feeling that we are going to find that Larry is really John Daly in disguise and he using our money to buy beer.
Shame on you John.....er Larry! NJ Don (a.k.a. Tony Soprano) was a close second with a +3 performance. He was able to walk away with the medalist honors for the day however!

The scoring average for the day was: 88.28! That's one of the best scores ever (3rd best) and we did it on crummy greens! Everybody but one person had positive points and the negative one was only by 1/2. That's pretty good golf for a bunch of old guys!

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
For the first time in several outings we had a sweep of the team competition. The foursome of Larry, NJ Don, Hergy and Tommy swept the table. Posting a +4 on the Azalea and a +5 on the Dogwood for an overall score of +9 for the 18.*
Failing to keep up with the torrid pace was the threesome of Ron, Don (a.k.a. Paint-boy) and Walt. They posted a -1/2 and a -2 to finish well back at -2 1/2 for the 18. Maybe next time they'll get lucky and draw "you know who's" golf ball!
*****ITEMS*****
At this point in time, it looks like Midland Valley is the front runner to host our group on Thursday. HCC is having some Women's Tournament on Thursday!

We had a bit of a scare on Thursday. We saw a huge truck load of sand being unload and got excited that maybe they were going to fix some of the sand traps (i.e. fill them with sand) but it was not to be. The sand was used for the greens! Maybe if it rains real hard the sand will get washed from the greens into the traps. What do you think?
