It's official....Summer has arrived in Aiken. It was uncomfortably warm this morning as a group of seven golfers set forth to win the goodies! Several of our group couldn't play today as they apparently "shot their goodies" at the Dick Flynn Charity Event yesterday (see items below for a quick recap of that action) and couldn't play two days in a row.

*****POINTS*****
Actually we had a tie again this morning between Marshall (Raisin' Cain) and Tommy the "Banker-boy". They both shot respectable +3's to easily win the individual contest. In fact, they were the only players with a positive number.I used Marshall's picture for two reasons, 1) it's really hard to put two pictures in the blog, and 2) Tommy still owes Marshall $.25 from the split - money which Marshall needs and Tommy has already invested in some stock fund. Had they split the money evenly and Tommy paid up, then I would have had a difficult choice to make! Tommy was also the medalist with an 82.

*****NINES*****
We had a few good rounds but everyone seemed to have the proverbial "good nine-bad nine syndrome" today. Noteworthy rounds included:
-41- Tommy(2) -42- Hergy -43- Don, Larry -44- Marshall, Don, Duke
*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
The team competition ended in a split decision today as well as the individual. Rising to the top of the compost heap was the team of Hergy, Jack and Marshall with a back nine (Dogwood) and 18 hole victory. Posting a -4 on the front (Dogwood) and a +1 on the back (Azalea) the team finished with a -3 for the day.
*
Preventing the sweep was the team of Don, Larry, Tommy and Duke. They posted a "0" on the Dogwood, but stumbled to a -5 on the Azalea bringing there total for the day to a -5, two shots short.
*
In all reality, it was pretty ugly golf!

*****ITEMS*****
Two HHH&S teams joined in the Dick Flynn Charity Golf Outing yesterday. It was a straight Captain's Choice. Realizing that both teams had little, if any chance to win the gross/net trophies up for grabs, the primary bet of the day settled into a $5.00 between the two team.
*
The team of Moody, Hergy, Duke and TV-Louie won the shoot-out posting a -9 (63) to the team of Don, Brent, Ron and Tommy -6 (-66). We were right about one thing though.....a gross 59 was what it took to win the tourney!
*
They had drawings for door prizes and TV-Louie (who left early) won a free round of golf for 4 at Cedar Creek, and then as if that wasn't good enough, he won another round of golf for 4 at Aiken Golf Club. That would be real great, if he had 4 friends to share it with!!!
*
Hergy won a oil change and lube job (?), Tommy won a drill bit set (?) (?) - I think that was it! Anyway, it was a good time and a fun way to screw up your golf game by over swinging!
