*****
We had 9 regulars for the outing this morning (eight participants) for all the gold in China, so to speak! It's really hot and a number of guys apparently have commitments which must account for the low totals. Or could it be that they are afraid to face the ever-improving POY and resent turning over their SS checks for deposit into his golfing retirement fund? Mm-m-m could be!
*
Unfortunately, we returned to the Laurel course which, quite candidly, is in terrible shape and plays extremely difficult when it is dryer than a frog's butt in Nevada. It's hard to hold the fairways and the greens are dry as a bone...most are close to being burned out! Given a chance, we won't play there unless we have no alternative.

*****POINTS*****
*
Having said all that about the course, the human "Paint-ball" (make that "Paint-boy") was the big winner today. Don amassed a total of +3 to easily walk away with the Point winnings.
*
Walt and Duke were the closest at +1 and Hergy was at "0" but they never threatened the paintbrush slinging dude.
*
Don also was the medalist, shooting an 83 (42-41). His round included a nice 41 on the Laurel course which was a greast score on that course. Next closest was Duke with a distant 87.
*
*
*****NINES*****
-41- Don -42- Don, Duke -43- Moody, Hergy -44- Ron, Marshall -45- Duke, Hergy
Only a 50% rating for above/below bogey (9/18), hopefully it will get better as the summer progresses.

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
**
The team competition have turned into endurance contests. Its not about who does well, its about who does less bad. Having said that, the team of Don, Hergy, Larry and Ron won 2/3rd's of the pie by shooting a losing -7 1/2 on the front (Laurel), a winning +1/2 on the back (Azalea) to produce a magnificant winning score of -7 for the 18. Which is a record for the "worst-win" in 2008. Isn't that an oximoron? Isn't any win, a good win?
*
Allowing them to get away with this highway robbery was the team of of Bob, Louie, Walt and Duke. They posted a -2 1/2 to win the front (Laurel), a real ugly - 9 1/2 on the back (Azalea) to finish the 18 with an overall score of -12. Fortunately, -16 is the 2008 for worst round.
*
*****ITEMS*****
Sorry about the early start times, but two factors make it very difficult to change that pattern. First, it is really hot in the afternoon, so to be the heat, we need to start early. Secondly, everyone else is starting early and we run into problems with them "turning" at the same time as we would be starting if we remained at are later start times.
