For the first time that I can remember, we had a four way tie for the POINTS Championship. Hergy, Tommy, Ron and Walt all tied at +2 to claim the shared crown. Despite numerous opportunities, no one seemed able to put in that final putt to make the difference. I guess a 4-way split of something is better than all of nothing! The medalist this morning was Tommy with an 83, Ron was next with an 84. Moody and Hergy were next with 85 and 86 respectively.*****NINES*****
-39- Tommy -40- -41- Duke, Moody -42- Hergy, Ron (2) -43- Louie
-44- Hergy, Moody, Tommy, Don -45- Walt
*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
We not only had a strange outcome for the individual portion of the outing today, the team competition was settled in a rather unique manner as well. The team of Louie, Duke, Walt (Dan non-participating) won the Azalea (front nine) with a +5 performance, falling to a -3 on the Dogwood (back nine) to finish at +2.
Likewise, the team of Hergy, Bob M. and Tommy finished the Dogwood (back nine) in +4 to win that segment, only to have stumbled earlier on the Azalea to a -2 allowing them to finish in a tie for the 18 hole honors with a +2 as well.
Falling between the cracks in this whole outing was the team of Don, Ron and Jack who finished the front in -3, the back in - 3, leading to an 18 hole total of -6, therefor finishing all alone in third place. We thank them for their contributions.
*****ITEMS*****
Good luck to all HHH&S members playing in the Dick Flynn Charity Golf Outing on Monday. I would be surprised if we win anything though, if I remember correctly, the team that won last year had 2 eagles and 16 birdies! We didn't!
