We had a full house this morning for the outing at Aiken Golf Club. We had 12 golfers (11 participants for the coin) and the course was ready to wreak havoc on our games - which it did!
*
The greens were trecherous and it showed in the scores. Not one team finished the 18 in the black with their points. There was some debate about whether or not to turn the scores in, but in all fairness, we played, we competed and the scores - good, bad or indifferent should be turned in.
*****POINTS*****

It shouldn't come as any big surprise that with the increased difficulty in the greens and other factors, that the winners of the POINTS competition are two of the lower handicaps (historically) in our group. We had a tie this morning with "Teflon" Bob and "Banker-boy" Tommy tying at a +2. The cream always rises to the top - so I've been told. Only one other golfer (Walt) had a positive score (+1), everyone else was in the negative numbers.
*****NINES*****
I went back in and adjusted the scores to reflect our playing a Par 70 course vs. our normal Par 72. The point game doesn't change though, only the scores. Here are, I believe the "corrected" 18 hole totals for everyone who played:
-79- Tommy
-80- Moody
-87- Ernie
-88- Ron, Hergy
-89- Walt
-90- Duke
-91- Marshall
-92- George
-93- Don
-94- Jack
Other - Dan
Interestingly out of all those scores, we only had two identical scores. Also of interest, Tommy, on a score basis actually beat Bob, but because we used HCC handicaps and point criteria, the points came out the same as both were +2 over their HCC established point totals. Sorry Tommy!

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
FRONT NINE WINNERS: The team of Don, Duke, Walt won the front nine with a dazzling display fo golf coming in at a -3. Walt led the way with a +1 1/2 on the front, but his teammates were relaxing and riding his coat tails to the meager victory.
*
BACK NINE AND 18 WINNERS: The team of Marshall, Bob, George and Hergy, following their diminuative leader, Mr. Moody, were able to wrack up both the back nine and 18 hole victories. Shooting a - 7 1/2 on the front didn't bode well for the team, but surging to a +3 1/2 total on the back nine and finishing with an 18 hole overall score of - 4 1/2 sealed the victory.
*
CONSOLATION: The last team of Ron, Ernie, Jack and Tommy got caught in the middle of the scores and finished in second place overall in the team competition (but out of the money) by scoring a -6 for the 18. We wish to thank them for there participation and contributions however.
