Wow, what a nice day to play golf!
We are enjoying having a brief respite from the heat and that made today very enjoyable. The courses are in pretty good shape, but they were very wet after yesterday's rain, so getting any roll or carry was out of the question. Surprisingly, it didn't effect the scores that much since 7 of the 9 golfers finished at "0" or better in the points race.*
Due to our rather "speedy" play (3-threesomes) and a slow, slow ,slow Women's group, we changed the course to Azalea/Laurel rather than the scheduled Azalea/ Dogwood.

*****POINTS*****
*
Of the nine players this morning, the POY-boy has risen back to the top of the slag heap. Larry, playing like a crazed Wofford Terrier (note picture: that's the "crazed" Wofford Terrier your looking at, not Larry) managed to score a +6 point victory over his closet rival, Raisin' Cain at +5. Hang in there Marshall, your time to win will surely come....I think!*
Maybe if you had a nasty looking college mascot, like the above Terrier, rather than a chicken you could intimidate your competitors and move up to the top spot...it seems to work for Dr. Andrews!
*
Larry also won the medalist honors with an 85. We had two golfers close at 86 (Brent and Duke) and another two at 87 (Hergy and Don) to make this a very competitive contest, except it doesn't mean anything.
*
*****NINES*****
-40- Hergy -41- Don -42- Larry, Ron, Brent, Duke
-43- Larry, Marshall -44- Brent, Duke -45- Walt, Marshall
*
*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
*
We had a split decision this morning for the team competition. The team of Walt, Larry and Hergy won 2/3rd's of the pool by winning the back (Laurel) with a very nice +6 and therefore the 18 with an overall score of +8.*
Spoiling the sweep was the team of Ron, Jack and Marshall. They won the front with a + 31/2, but fell short on the back nine with on a -1/2 to finish the 18 with a +3.
*
The team of Brent, Duke and Don fell into the cracks so to speak. Saddled with the highest point total of the three teams, they fell a little short to fall completely out of the money.

*****ITEMS*****
Please note that the tee times for Saturday have been cancelled. We have several players in the Mini-member/member, several are playing in the Peninsula group and a couple just not playing. That all adds up to a very low number of golfers, hence the cancellation!
