Fall golf has to be the best thing since whenever? The days just don't get any nicer than today. We had 10 golfers take advantage of the beautiful day and the attack the courses with "vigor". Unfortunately, in a preview of the future, the s-l-o-w play on the Azalea necessitated a move to the Laurel to preserve our sanity and our spasmodic golf games.

*****POINTS*****

In a display of rare skill and dumb luck (20/80), our winner today was none other than the "Big Bug-eater" from the plains of Nebraska. Hergy dusted the field by shooting a dazzling +9. The next closest competitor was the Naked Gun at +4.
*
In addition to the points win, Hergy also copped the medalist victory by shooting an 81 (41-40). Obviously, the slow play didn't seem to impact his game to much. But fear not you little "southern boys" the handicap fairy will soon be visiting Bob and he will go the way of all the other "flash-in-the-pans" that have come before. Next best rounds for the day - Bob M (85) and Tommy and Ron (85's).
*****SCORES*****
The scores were a little bit erratic this morning. The front nine (Azalea) was agonizingly slow and of course "the Laurel" always works it's magic on our scores. Although surprisingly, the Laurel gave up a 39 , 2 - 40's, and a 41.
-39- Bob
-40- Hergy, Duke
-41- Hergy, Tommy
-42- Ron
-43-
-44- Ron
-45- Louie, George, Tommy

*****TEAM COMPETITION*****
*
The team competition ended up in a split decision this morning. The team of Louie, Larry and Hergy won 2/3rd's of the pot. Winning the front with a +6, shooting a "0" on the back to finish the 18 in +6.
*
Second place went to the team of Tommy, Ron, Walt and Duke. They posted a -3 on the front, but bounced back to win the back nine (Laurel) with a very good +7 to finish the 18 at a +4.
*
The final team of George, Jack and Bob finished the front in -3, the back in "0" to end up in the middle and out of the money.

*****ITEMS*****
Due to the fact that Houndslake is sponsoring a major Women's golf event next week, we have decided to move to the AIKEN GOLF CLUB for the duration. Please note the times above, they are a little later than our norm. See you next week!
