PLAYER OF THE YEAR

FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Aiken, SC; It was announced this evening at the HHH & S Annual Christmas and Awards Banquet held at the Houndslake Country Club that Larry Andrews has once again been selected by his golfing brethren to be the recipient of the groups highest annual award - Player Of The Year.

This not new territory for the reserved, scholarly Wofford graduate. He has received this award annually for the past three seasons. There had been some question as to the criteria used to select the winner in previous years, rumors of bribery and corruption within the selection committees, but this time there was no doubt.

Larry won the weekly competitive competitions (Points Competitions) held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday throughout the year a total of 19 times, edging out second place finisher Hergy (17). Others nominated by the POY and Competition committee were Ron (16), Don (14) and Louie (12).

When asked how it felt to be the winner again, Larry responded with his quick Wofford wit, "I good!, I do good!"

This award is the only athletic award that any Wofford graduate has ever won since the founding of the school in 1854. A petition from wealthy alumni and fellow golfers Ron, Walt and Ernie are asking that the Wofford mascot be named after Larry in recognition of this achievement. The mascot, currently unnamed (it's a Boston Terrier) would be known as "Doctor Larry".

You can send your monetary donations to add a plaque to the bronze statute (shown above) located on the Spartenburg, SC campus denoting Larry's name and achievement(s).
