***GENERAL INFORMATION*******

#3 - Jones Creek

We had a nice turnout this AM now that most everyone is back from July 4th festivities. The weather this morning was a little muggy and the threat of rain prevailed, but our luck held and we finished the round dry and comfortable.....or as comfortable as you can be in 85% humidity.

The rough on the Azalea course had been mowed, so it was possible to blast your ball out of a less than perfect lie. It also appears from the scores that everyone's comfort zone on the Laurel course is improving. We had some really outstanding scores on the back nine from a host of players.

On review of the scores today, it appears that the "Wanna be" has been practicing while "helping" with those golfing clinics. He,as well as the Paint Boy, beat the "Medalist Master Moody" for the best round of the day. Also , a "shout out" to "Mr. 143", who posted a very respectible 86 - including a 41 on the Laurel.

******POINTS COMPETITION********

Points Winners: tie Brent and Larry +7 (3rd Win and 6th Win respectively)
2nd Place: Jack +6*

I was going to start posting the pictures of the winners, but in looking at Larry and Brent together, I decided that showing the two of them at the same time would scare the children and dogs, so as a community service, I didn't!

Medalist: Brent and Don +80
2nd Place: Bob +83*

Group Scoring Average: 86.82

Team Average: 85.75 (Walter, Brent and Bob)

******COMMENTARY********

It appears that we will be changing the P.O.Y. criteria to more correctly "honor" the INDIVIDUAL achievement by removing the Team portion of the point structure. We will therefore institute another award - to be named later - to honor the best Team partner (he who has won the most team events).

If I don't hear a lot of gnashing of teeth in the next couple events it will be as Yul Brenner (the Pharoh) said in the "Ten Commandments" - "So let it be written. So let it be done."

What other blog in the world, would give you guys movie quotes like this? Wow, and you get all this free of charge! Although, in following with Houndslake's new attitude, a substantial charge should be surfacing around the corner, with the proceeds going to fix the sand traps on Laurel.
