Would You Believe?

***** TEE TIME INFORMATION *****
It appears that Saturday will also result in a nice day - tee times 10:00 -10:08 am - but on Sunday, the weather is supposed to change and "rain" is in the forcast again!   I like green lawns and flowers, etc., as much as the next guy, but this is getting a little ridiculous!

The tee times situation is kind of fluid right now. At some point, most of the groups (although primarily the Houndslake Women's Group) will be switching to their summer tee times. When that occurs, we will be adjusting ours to coincide with earlier starting times. It has generally be agreed that a tee time around 10:00 - 10:30 am (ish), would be prefered by our group. I have been assured by the Pro Shop that we will be included in the discussion this times as opposed to the last one.  No guarantees that we will get the desired time, but at least we know what we want....which hasn't always been the case before!  For now however, we will keep our 11:08 - 11:20 am start times.

***** GENERAL INFORMATION *****

Would you believe.......this is the FIRST time all year that we have managed to have our regular Tuesday/Thursday match without a weather interruption!   The weather certainly has been a constant factor this Winter/Spring, as in "pain in the butt". In fact, we have missed a total of 15 days that we ordinarily would have played a golf date. Now, if we can just get the course(s) to dry out.

We have had 9 golfers out for each of the last two outings, that's a pretty good number.  Several of our group are are out on Medical Leave or contemplating Medical Leave  - Brent (knee), Marshall (Pheunmonia), Duke (Hip), Moody (Rotator Cuff) and it has been reported, though not verified that a couple of you have a case of the "uglies" - i.e.: You are so ugly that you're face stops traffic type ugly! - and you know who you are!, so our numbers may be down for a while.

I haven't been blogging much as a result of the abbrieviated playing schedule - hard to blog when there is little or no news to report on!   Unlike most of the mainstream media though, our financial solvency is just great and there is little or no chance of this blog going "belly-up" - I have a much better chance of going "belly-out" since I tend to gain weight at a drop of a hat!.

Anyway, with our getting back into our regular schedule, it is kind of a good news - bad news thing! The good news is that we are starting to play regular again and the weather is improving, the bad news - almost everyone is playing terrible golf - except for "the Smurf".

***** INDIVIDUAL HONORS *****

We had a couple of winners for STD (Stud of the Day) on Tuesday as Jack and Ron tied for the honors with a +4 score.  Larry sauntered in second with a commendable +2.  On Thursday, Ron again captured the top spot (alone the time) as he turned in a very nice +6 perfomance, edging out David, Louie and Bob with their measley +4's. The scores are considerably up for 2010 over last year.  Our average to date is over 92 as compared to 89 at the end of last year!  Most everyone is up 2 to 3 strokes on their handicap as a result!

The medalist for Tuesday was Ron at 88 with Louie next at 89.  On Thursday, it was Louie and Ron again, only reversed with 86 and 87 respectively!

***** LOSER ROLL*****
Red (Tuesday) Green (Thursday)
-38-
-39-
-40-
-41-
-42-  Ron, David, Louie
-43-  Ron
-44-  Don, Louie, Ron, Louie, Don
-45-  Bob, Louie

These results are "unique"!  Out of 36 rounds, we managed to play 11 rounds in bogey or better.  That's only a little better than 30% (30.6 to be exact).  I think we might be a little under-achieving!

***** TEAM COMPETITION *****
Both days were marked with "sweeps".  The team of David, Louie and Larry swept the nines with rather modest scores of +2 1/2, 1 1/2  = +4 on Tuesday over a total of "Even" and -1.

On Thursday the team of Louie, Larry and Don swept everyone with a + 3 1/2, + 5 1/2 = 9.  Their nearest competitors were a +5 followed by a -4.

Since the scores have been so bad of late, I have to decided to allow all of the other "poor-shooting scum" to remain nameless.  I also don't know how to list everyone in an easy and consise manner.

**** NEWS *****

All though my golf game is suffering right now, not all things are gloomy in the World!  Smile and be cheerful as the "Fighting Irish of Notre Dumb have been upset in the NCAA tournament!  YEAH!  Life just doesn't get much better than that!
